Balances and Payouts
Understand your Available, Future and Float balances, set your payout schedule, and top up your account.
Your balance determines when you get paid and whether refunds can be processed. Find it in the Business Portal under Balances.
Your Balances
The Overview shows three figures.
| Balance | What it means |
|---|---|
| Available now | The total amount available now, which can be used to process refunds. |
| Today's payout | The amount that will be paid out to your bank account. Payouts are typically paid at 4pm on the payout date. |
| Future | The amount expected to become available for future payouts. |
Why Available now may be lower than you expectCard and Pay Later payments typically take 24 hours before they are available, and any fees you owe may have been deducted.
If your Available balance does not cover a refund, your float is used - see Float below.
Payout Schedule
Select Change schedule to choose how often you are paid out.
- Daily - paid out every day.
- Weekly - paid out on Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays.
Weekly payouts are not scheduled beyond Thursday, so the money reaches your account before the weekend.
Select Confirm schedule change to save.
Float
A float is a set amount of your funds retained in Super so refunds can still be processed after your balance is settled. Refunds draw on your float when your Available balance does not cover them, so a float keeps refunds working through the 24 hour availability window and after a payout has settled.
To set or change it, select Edit beside Float balance, enter an amount and save.
Payouts are held until the float is fundedWhen you set a float, payouts are held until your refund balance has sufficient funds. Once it has enough, the balance is retained so refunds can be processed.
If you process refunds regularly, a float avoids the situation where a refund fails because your balance has already settled to your bank account. See Refund a Payment for what happens when there are insufficient funds.
Top Up Your Balance
Select Top up balance to pay funds into your account. These funds are used when paying out or refunding your customers.
Enter an amount and select Pay in.
Paid in too much?Excess funds are returned to you at the end of each day with your regular payout, minus whatever you have chosen to hold back via your float.
